In a city alive with artistic energy, Magu Cerâmica offers something refreshingly grounding—an invitation to slow down, get your hands dirty, and reconnect with creativity through clay. Founded by Lisbon-based ceramist Margarida, the studio has become a space for tactile exploration, personal expression, and joyful community connection.
Magu’s workshops are rooted in the simple but profound pleasure of making. Here, the focus isn’t on flawless technique or polished end results, but on the experience of shaping earth with your hands. Whether you’re building your first pinch pot or exploring abstract forms, you’re welcomed with warmth, curiosity, and gentle guidance.
Taking her philosophy of creative play even further, Margarida has launched an inspiring collaboration with Salty Floor Wine Bar, located in Lisbon’s historic Belém neighborhood. Together, they host Clay Play sessions—laid-back gatherings that blend the meditative rhythm of working with clay with the ritual of drinking natural wine.
These events are not typical pottery classes, but prioritize less structured guidance with more creative freedom. Participants are encouraged to follow their instincts, experiment with texture and form—with a glass of thoughtfully curated wine in hand. The natural, unfiltered character of the wine pairs beautifully with the earthy, spontaneous nature of clay, creating a multisensory experience that feels both grounding and elevated.
While Magu Cerâmica’s main studio is based in Marvila—a growing hub for Lisbon’s contemporary art and design scene—these offsite collaborations reflect Margarida’s desire to keep clay accessible and mobile. Her aim is to bring ceramic exploration into everyday spaces, sparking connection and creativity in unexpected places.
